Abstract
This study discussed the prospects of artificial intelligence for effective teaching and learning in early childhood education centres in Rivers State. Being a position paper, the philosophical tools of speculation, analysis and prescription were utilised. Data were obtained from secondary sources such as textbooks and journal articles. It was obvious that artificial intelligence has come to stay with humans, with its characteristics. Likewise, personalised learning was the highest prospect of artificial intelligence in effective teaching and learning in early childhood education centres in the State while inadequate preparedness of teachers was the major challenge of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning in the study centres. The study concluded that by leveraging AI-powered tools and platforms, caregivers can personalise learning experiences, enhance learners‘ engagement and optimise teaching ethodologies to meet diverse learning styles. It was thus recommended among others that there should be professional development and training programmes organised by both government and head teachers of early childhood education centres for caregivers to build their capacity for effectively integrating AI tools and resources into the early childhood curriculum.
