By Abstract
This paper focused on the practical approach to the teaching and learning exercises to equip the learners with useful competencies to solving future problems for the self and the society. The object teaching ideology of Johann Henrich Pestalozzi (1746 – 1827) which demands for a practical approach to teaching and learning was considered as important for economic development of Nigeria in the 21st Century. Object teaching method to harness skills and competences for the young talents at the primary school level was briefly explained. Its basement for economic development in Nigeria and the viability of digital response was examined citing earlier attempts by the Federal Republic of Nigeria in her National Policy on Education to practicalize teaching and learning at the primary school level. Some benefits that will accrue to the Federal Republic of Nigeria if the object teaching ideology was upheld were mentioned and discussed. Five suggestions were proffered.
